Aromatherapy Massage

What is an Aromatherapy Massage?

An aromatherapy massage is a full body massage that combines a custom blend of therapeutic essential oils and massage therapy. It is a specialized massage treatment of the head and body inducing complete relaxation. The massage blend is created specifically for the needs of the client and incorporate the use of specific therapeutic essential oils depending on the requirements of the client. This massage concentrates on the nerve centers of the back, the face, and front and back of the legs, ending with some special moves for the feet.

The massage treatment is light, rhythmical and soothing using effleurage movement techniques that relax you, stimulate nerve endings, increase blood flow and lymph drainage.

Other health benefits include promoting deep relaxation and revitalization, reduces anxiety and eases depression, boosting energy, reducing pain and discomfort, induces sleep, strengthening the immune system, improves digestion and the list goes on depending on the oils used.

The massage works with the lymph system and helps to put the body into a parasympathetic state. The parasympathetic state is the healing state that brings your nervous system into balance. The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) runs all of the involuntary mechanisms in your body that are not under your conscious control, such as your heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, respiration, cell activity, and even body temperature.

The effects of an aromatherapy massage can last up to 48 hours, depending on the oils used. Very often, the benefits are immediately noticeable after a massage, but over time, it may be noticed that underlying or long-term problems have also been eased by massage. A weekly massage is an excellent way to keep the body relaxed and free of toxins.

The lymphatic or lymph system involves an extensive network of vessels that passes through almost all our tissues to allow for the movement of a fluid called lymph. Lymph circulates through the body in a similar way to blood. There are about 600 lymph nodes in the body. These nodes swell in response to infection, due to a build-up of lymph fluid, bacteria, or other organisms and immune system cells.

The lymphatic system plays a key role in the immune system, fluid balance, and absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients.

Some other benefits of aroma-massage:
  • calms the nervous system and relaxes muscles
  • energizes the body
  • soothes many types of pain
  • stimulates the lymphatic circulation and helps relieve chronic inflammation
  • improves blood flow to organs, including the heat and brain, helping them to function better
  • stimulates the release of brain chemicals that lift your mood and stimulates your immune system
  • helps prevent future health problems.

Your ability to drop into the Parasympathetic State is critical to the following functions of your body:

  • Digestion
  • Detoxification
  • Inflammation
  • Immunity
  • Brain health
  • Depression
  • Pain Relief
  • Gut health
